How to Play Ludo

Game guide · FYJYSW

Understand the basics of Ludo

Start Ludo by looking at the playing area and its controls. Bring all four tokens home before the other players. Use the example below to understand a decision. Read the objective before making your first input. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

Play with two or four people on the same device. Follow the house rules shown on the board; internet matchmaking is not available.

Practice with a purpose

Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board. Make the next step deliberately.

What counts as success

Bring all four tokens home before the other players. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Notice how the game responds to your input.

Making your moves

  1. Roll six to leave the yard.
  2. Move an eligible token by the die value; home requires an exact roll.
  3. Capture opponents on non-safe squares.
  4. Six, capture and finishing a token grant another roll; a third consecutive six forfeits that roll.

Keyboard and screen controls

Click or tap a piece and destination; use the turn indicator and legal-move feedback. Keep the playing area visible while using these controls. Use the visible help when you are unsure of the next input.

An example before you play

A token two steps from home cannot use a three. Focus on why the action is allowed, not only its outcome. Read the matching step again.

Avoid this misunderstanding

Safe squares cannot capture; blockades are not part of this edition. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Choose one rule to keep in mind for this round. Apply it consistently rather than guessing what another version might allow.
